18 Jan the way you look at it
Camera charm necklace from Anthropology.
There have been a million things I’ve wanted to say here for the last week. But, I haven’t a minute to get them down. There have been some surreal things that have happened; tragic, indescribable, unfair. But through all of it there have been triumphs; hope, help, joy.
There is so much good that is being poured into the bad that there is illumination, even in the darkest places. I feel like I could write for days. But, I’m still processing it all. There will be much more clarity in the next week or so as ideas flesh out and plans firm up but for now, it’s just this inner knowing, this certainty that things can change when your perspective does.
I have recently had the pleasure and enjoyment of quiet days at my laptop writing content for a photo-centric class that I will be teaching (in Shutter Sister style) at Big Picture Scrapbooking in April. Details to come. I cannot tell you what a gift it’s been to be held accountable to stay focused, present and grounded.
With each word I write, with each picture I take, with each person I connect with these days I am reminded over and over again, the good can balance out the bad, the light can shine on the dark and how we look at it can make all the difference.
Won’t you share your perspective with us today?

Posted at 16:13h, 18 JanuaryBeautiful post! Please indulge me BSM’ers. This is my first time. I promise to not be so verbose in the future. I have been looking for an online community where I can groom my photography while I blog, write books and magazine assignments. It took me a while but I think this is it. I have a fine art background that basically has been little groomed since the days I attended a portfolio-based arts high school my senior year in 1978. I have spent much of my 30 years in communications working alongside mostly photojournalists. Which is humbling. I’m not wanting to go professional. I’m not wanting many big things with my photography other than to learn to be better and express my creativity with punch and wow. I have been inspired this last year following a number of photoblogs. Photography helps foster in me an artist eye. But I need help. I know the technicals stink. Got that. And I’ll get to that. I invite your overall constructive feedback, please. I’m a thick-skinned journalist. Tell me what I could do better, particularly with my composition. How can I strengthen what I’ve photographed, etc.? Thank you! So here’s to my first BSM. Promise I’ll be much less chattier next week! (Sorry, I still haven’t figured out how to make a hyperlink. Yeah, it’s easy for everyone else.)

Posted at 23:09h, 18 Januaryit really is all about perspective, isn’t it? i love that shot.
here is to getting a chance to step back and gain a little of that perspective when we all need it most.
i gathered up my share this weekend by finding a get-away that allowed me to squeeze my family in and hold them just a little bit tighter.

Posted at 23:23h, 18 JanuaryHello all,
Balance and the acknowledgement that one can sequence priorities is something I am trying to embrace right now. In life I want to do it all in one day though this may not be necessary… and as Tracey shares "the light can shine on the dark and how we look at it can make all the difference" So true, so true…. here is my impression this Monday.
Have a wonderful evening, Liz
