a summer story

a summer story

We have spent more time at the beach this summer so far than is probably good for us. The freckles on my oldest daughter’s face tell the story well. Sun, sand, salt water and lots and lots of sunscreen.

We’ve been spending lots of time at the park as of late — I too am shocked to see his first freckles. And the scab he got a couple months ago is stark white against his tan ankles.

Here is my best shot for the week. It’s the beach on the Balboa Peninsula.

I’ve got family reunion photos. It doesn’t get any more summer than that around here!

Your daughter is so lovely. I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to let me photograph them without bribery. Wonderful shot!

    Oh, I absolutely love freckles!

Summer in Chicago means outdoor music festivals, and probably the most family friendly of them all is the Old Town School of Folk Music’s Folk and Roots Festival. I had my introduction to Zumba there yesterday, and I think Cadence will want classes in the future:

Oh, those freckles are awesome – I love them!
We are heading to the beach again this week – now that the *hot* part of summer has hit us here in SoCal! But our big summer news had us holding our breath last week!

Our summer has been about puppy love! Soft and sweet and short lived, like summer itself….

I love that summer brings out freckles! This is an especially simple but gorgeous photo of yours daughters! I love that you’ve captured the most basic elements that summer brings out in us all- without it being the typical shots of sun and sand. Happy day… -e

So far my oldest is the only one that freckles in the summer like I do. She’s beautiful—a summer at the beach is like nothing else!

So far our summer story is more about getting dirty in the backyard than anything else.

Separated from my husband my 10 month old and I moved in with my parents. My son has taken such a shine to my dad that he simply squeals with delight every time he sees him. They spend a lot of time in the yard together, my baby pointing to different plants and other sites, my dad walking around and letting him touch every item:

Such a beautiful pic of your daughter and her freckles! Reminds me of ‘me’ when I was growing up. I wish I had them now – then, just the opposite! Our summer would not be complete without the cotton candy vender! In the winter it seems like cotton candy doesn’t exist – so when summer arrives that’s the first thing we look for – even if it’s just for the smell!

Summer, for me, is all about BLUE…the sky, the ocean, my beach cruiser bike, my hydrangea bush, the clear blue pool water & yummy blueberries from the farmers market (oh…and a skyblue sno-cone)!

Tells the whole story for this summer – from the kids too scared to go into the water (any water pool or ocean) to the boy playing in the waves with the smiles, laughter. Joy. It makes my heart sing.
