Good Morning 2011

Good Morning 2011

Today, more than any other day, I wanted to be ready. I wanted to have the past behind me. I wanted the holidays to be neatly packed and put away. I wanted to have the house in order: clean and cleared of clutter. I wanted to have my *systems* set up. I wanted to have my One Little Word ready to share in a post here to properly ring in the New Year with great pomp and circumstance.

As I sit here, reflecting on all of the things I had hoped for on this New Years Day, I admit that none of the above have come to fruition.

*sigh*

Such is life. It never really ends up the way you plan. Alas, I also know that things always unfold exactly as they should.

Today, I will finish up this imperfect New Years post, and take it slow and easy. It was, after all the theme of Day 1’s prompt for my class Picture Winter, so it makes so much sense really. I’ll straighten myself up, start putting things away, muse on the steps I can take to get my New Years ducks in a row, so to speak. I will hold on to gratitude and remember that tomorrow is a new day, full of possibility and promise…

How have you found your New Years Day today? How will you start your 2011?

the most wonderful thing about life is that every single day is a new day. a new chance to do it over and do it differently. you can consider tomorrow (or even today at 4pm) your beginning moment and go from there. i always think the best time to start is now. not at a designated time by the calendar, clock or even your history. just now. you have a million chances to start. here's one right now.

I love honest you are!!! Today I'm enjoying the last day we are all home. Hubby goes back to work tonight after being off for 10 days. He had use or loose vacation time. We are all slowly moving today, but I intend to just be today and enjoy togetherness!!!

Hey, here's the good news: You don't have the pressure of New Year's perfection looming over your head now.

One of my "intentions" (which I prefer to resolutions) was to go easy on myself if things don't go as planned. I'm finding if I do a little bit here, a little bit there, with time in between to sit with a book and a cup of tea, I'm much happier. Here's to you, dear Tracey. Happy New Year and embrace your moseying self! 🙂

I think I'm going to ask for a do-over for the 1st day of 2011, too. I began the year with a house full of guests, a sinus infection and to top it off, I stepped in the poop of a dog who doesn't belong to me and tries to bite my children when it stays with us. I am going to bed early with a tidied up home, some warm tea in my belly and the house guests gone back to their own home. For me, 2011 officially begins tomorrow. Happy New Year! http://www.flickr.com/photos/anngeedee/5314065881/

the story that matters is the one we live..not the finished product only 🙂 i've been cherishing the nudge to write the real story…the in between points a and b (oops i'm not linear)..the what happens while i glide and dance and trip and stumble from there to here and back again. my new year came with a kiss on my nose and a gentle reminder to be….love this post:)

I am also working on my 2011 goals. I decided to start a 52 week project to enhance my Photoshop editing skills, as well as keep me shooting on a very regular basis. Often times I am bogged down with projects/activities and don't find the time to sit back, relax and enjoy the present moment. Hopefully t hat will change this year.

So true. My post last night , on one hand, is all about hopes and dreams and things to do this year. On the other hand, I got home on Friday and haven't really started to unpack… The front hall is an obstacle course and is likely to stay that way while I enjoy one more day of vacation with my family.

Isn't it grand, this embracing of imperfection?

Your house looks perfect to me! I always wish that my house was neater so I could take pics in it without a giant mess within it! Wait- is that a New Years resolution? Nope.
    Happy New Year Tracey!

It's true. It never turns out like you plan. Perhaps that is the greatest gift of all. I spent the first day of the New Year cleaning up messes. Not distinctively different from the last day of 2010. I am surrounded by people I love. My birthday is on it's way. We are preparing for some major transitions and journeys this year. I took a photo of myself New Years Eve. After all was said and done. More here.

Ah, I love you! I feel so much better now. No New Year's post from me yet, still deliberating my one word (but getting closer). I did however dive back into a 365 … we'll see how far I get 🙂

Our new year's day was simple and rather every-day — just how I like it.

Thanks for sharing. Things just did not come together on New Year's Eve Day (did not get everything put away, did not get my letter to the universe written — it's still not written), so I had a similar sense of letdown and frustration on New Year's Day. However, perhaps this is a gentle reminder from the universe to slow down and just be. Thanks again.
