I am Enough : Steps toward self-kindness

I am Enough : Steps toward self-kindness

First let me say that I am so blown away at the response the I Am EnoughCollaborative is getting. Thank you all so much for commenting, emailing, tweeting and helping to spread to word. Your encouragement and enthusiasm is what is going to make this amazing!

I promised to share more about the project, what to expect and how to get involved. First, I plan on updating at least once a week on Tuesdays. There may be an opportunity to share more than that, but for now, I’m starting at a manageable pace. Maintaining feasible expectations for myself (aka respecting my own limits) is one of my recent acts of self-kindness. The stories I will be sharing here won’t only be my own. The weekly calendar is already filling up with some amazing women who are going to be sharing thier own experiences, struggles, insights and images that come from the I Am Enough catalyst. Women like Katherine Center, Amie Adams, Myriam Joseph, Amy Turn Sharp, Brene Brown, Jen Gray and the list that goes on and on.

This is a collaborative after all, and I do believe that by hearing the stories of the women among us we will be inspired to be kinder to ourselves as we claim the truth that We Are Enough. The collective energy we all share is a really big deal and with it we can make really big things happen. First on the list, loving ourselves into wholeness(a phrase borrowed from the ever inspiring Sarah Ban Breathnach).

It’s no wonder that in my daily routine of reading Sarah Ban Breathnach’s book Simple Abundance that the last few days have focused on exactly that. She offers the kinds of strategies and tools to help us along this path, while we’re on this quest.  What I got as I read the comments on last weeks post was that we desperately want to embrace the truth that We Are Enough but can often feel so far removed from it, we need a bridge to connect us. It is my intention to offer a number of planks to help us build that bridge.

So, “Today, you need to be there for yourself.”

“…we recover our authentic selves one kind gesture at a time.” (from March 14th in Simple Abundance)

As you muse on what YOU would like to share here (yes YOU!), excavate or create images for the new I Am Enough Flickr Pool, become a fan on our new Facebook page, follow us on Twitter, you are affirming that you want to embrace the truth that You Are Enough. I applaud you brave sisters and am so glad you’re here. Being here is just the gesture of self- kindness you’re heart needs today. That and maybe a Hersheys Kiss. Or two.

    Thankyou.

I have started reading Simple abudance, every January for the last few years. But I never get past February.

I think I am now understand that I was so wanting to be different I couldn’t see the good in this moment.

So Today, I am enough right now.

I am celebrating the good now, not hoping for it to arrive in the future.

Today I worked on being quiet with myself. When I had a quiet moment (which I did at the eye doctor and the veterinary clinic) I talked to myself about being kind, loving and quiet. Usually I NEED to pick up a magazine, or I’m anxiously looking around reading things on the walls and fidgeting with myself. I have a hard time being still with myself. So I practiced today! I’m very proud of myself!

I’m so happy I stumbled across this {you}!

Finding balance and respecting myself enough not to over-commit is something I’ve been working on these past 3 months with my art coach. I can’t tell you how peaceful {and yet full} my life both personally and professionally has become since I have started doing this! Gone is the panic and anxiety of having to cram my evenings full of deadline work – gone is the depression that over-commitment has caused – here to stay is the concept of loving myself enough to respect my boundaries!

I would love to find out more about how to get more involved!

Tracey, I felt moved to stop by your blog and see what you’ve got going on…now I know why. What a fabulous and critically important project! We women seem conditioned to believe we’re never enough, despite all the amazing things we do on a daily basis. We can’t feel guilty about taking care of ourselves…if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy! Thanks for speerheading this – can’t wait to dive in.

Hello just wanted to give you a brief heads up and
let you know a few of the images aren’t loading properly. I’m not sure why but I think its a
linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different browsers and both show the same outcome.

It抯 truly very difficult in this active life to listen news on Television, so I simply use the web for that reason, and obtain the hottest information.
