kind words week, take 1

kind words week, take 1

Love Letter #2

A special thanks to Grey Cottage Studios for sharing this image.

We’re taking the week to be extra kind to ourselves. How? By whispering sweet nothings to ourselves, of course. You heard me right. No matter where we look or how hard we try to get others to give us the approval we are in desperate need of, we are the only ones who can give us exactly what we need; kindness, love and liberating, unconditional approval.

Everyday this week I will be sharing an image from the I am Enough Flickr pool to offer some simple self-talk ideas. Whisper them, shout them out, sing them to yourself. But whatever you do, use a genuine voice; warm, welcoming, wonderful.

You’re talking to yourself after all, so be kind.

As always, you are welcome to share your own kind words with us either in the comments below or in our Flickr pool. You can just never get too much self-kindness.

Hi Tracey – I love this idea!! I think we’re generally so hard on ourselves, so a kind word now and then is exactly the right thing to do!

i am having a jihad against meanness in my house… when my daughter is tired she gets mean and we have had enough (so of course has she – she just doesn’t have better tools at this stage)… it has been working well when we manage the meanness to each other but the real miracle is when we pull her up on being mean to herself… everytime she speaks kindly to herself she unfurls a little bit more

i often find myself saying over and over again when i am in a situation where my not enough buttons are flashing bright red "it’s alright darling, you’re ok"

    it really helps

Hi! It’s me in that picture. Thanks for posting it. I really was moved that day, watching women across flickr land post positive messages to themselves and in turn, each other. Since then I’ve written a few of them in chalk on our walk way. It was kind of an act of bravery as sometimes people raise an eyebrow, but we must be the change we want to see in the world, right?
