Pink Week

Pink Week

Spent the day yesterday doing not much of anything. Still recouping from feeling under the weather my family of four all just hung around worked on little projects and rested. My husband and I loved it. The kids were less than thrilled. Regardless, getting to spend a day together with no agenda was refreshing and rejuvenating.

If nothing else offers hope and promise it’s days like that and blooms like this. Part of my lazy day was spent with my camera of course hence My Best Shot captured yesterday straight from our backyard. One of my favorite places to shoot.

The pink tone of the shot was intentional (thank you Lightroom) as this Friday is Pink Friday. A day set aside to support the teachers of California. Because I hold teachers near and dear to my heart (my husband teaches 6th grade) I will be using this whole week leading up to Friday as my own little Pink platform.

I encourage you to join me in supporting our teachers now more than ever. The budget cuts are killing our education system at the expense of both our teachers and our children. It’s a crisis. And we need to show our concern and support for them. You can pop over to the facebook group and join the cause and/or you can join me in posting Pink pictures this week to show you care about this issue. Be sure to leave links here so we can all check out what you’ve got! Thanks for the support!

Now, what is near and dear to your heart this early Monday morning? My guess is that you have a fabulous Best Shot to share.

Thank you, Tracey for promoting this – I will be happy to participate on Friday, too. We have a huge meeting tomorrow night concerning all the budget cuts in our district, it is so very frustrating and scary.

We spent our weekend recuperating from a rough week at Disney at adopted a sweet new kitty.

Lovely pink toned image. I will have to try that lightroom someday. Picnik is working for me now, since my other computer runs Photoshop much too slowly! I will be on the look out for pinks this week though, in the meantime my fave this week was taken at a local park (in Escondido) on our way to the Children’s Museum there, which brought back wonderful memories of my nana.

I have a few pink blossoms for you too! We actually got rain today and I’m finding flowers rather near and dear to me as the land changes from brown to sprouting green buds everywhere. 🙂

Hooray to CA for supporting our teachers. Every state should follow suit.

I’ll definitely try and post some PINK pictures this week as this is definitely a cause close to my heart. This particular Monday though, my community and family are on my heart as a dear friend unexpectedly passed away on Friday.

What a beautiful photo! I have no idea what you mean about a lightroom (as opposed to a dark room?!)…I have SO MUCH to learn! Slow baby steps…but your photo is simply amazing…so delicate and new. Thank you for sharing and informing. I have not heard of Pink Friday. I am a teacher from GA, and I think it is WONDERFUL that you all are able to stand together on as issue like this. We have experienced cuts as well, and it IS kind of scary…blessings to you all.
