reconnecting

reconnecting

Reentry back into my normal life has been such a gift. Being swept up in writing my book for the past…what feels like a long time…had left me longing for more time with my family.  My orginal plan for Thanksgiving break was to find somewhere to go or something to do. I was so eager to celebrate some free time. Thankfully, with too little time to plan, we decided to stay home and just *be* together.

Movie nights, popcorn, board games, pajama days, crackling fires, and puttering around the house has satiated my desperate need to reconnect with not only my family, but also to myself. Hello self. Remember me? Ah yes, where have you been? (as if I didn’t know)

As we wind down what turned out to be an ideal holiday, I play back the pictures in my mind of my family just being together and reconnecting and I am left with even more gratitude than when I began the week.

Share with me a highlight from your holiday, won’t you?

Our thanksgiving was back in October, but we made a long weekend of it anyway and spent it very much as you did. It was blissful. I made a lot of art, we ate a lot of good food, we made a special trip out to celebrate a loved ones birthday ~ just pure goodness all around.

Congratulations on being finished with the whirlwind that is writing a book!

I can so relate to what you're saying, Tracey! My ms is taking a lot of time in its final days of revision, and my family times are the way I pull myself out of Lucy and John's story as Loyalists in the American Revolutionary War. Glad I found your blog today. The colours are soft and calming, a real lift for the senses.

i just loved reading this ~ so tender and absolutely joyful ♥

we keep thanksgiving so small at my house i was beyond thrilled that my daughter in law said that this year they were coming to our home for thanksgiving day. i am a no pressure m in law so i am just happy with what i can enjoy. we had so much fun together, we planned the meal together, the whole day of food actually two weeks before. that was so fun because i realized there were things that i wouldn't usually put on my menu that she loves so we added them too!!

another great thing is how interested my 17 year old daughter has become in cooking this past year so she spent most of the day learning how to cook our traditional dishes. i must say that was a great pleasure for me.
