seasonal sequence

seasonal sequence

Meredith’s post at Shutter Sisters asks us how we shoot our families. Is it any surprise I love the question? This time of year, shooting the family usually means one thing. The annual holiday card agenda. And it always seems the more I try the less I get what I am looking for. Will I ever learn?

In this case, nothing from this grouping will make it to the card but never the less, they’re just more images of my lovely ladies…and I can never have too many of those.

How about you? Share your best shot today. Something tells me that after the Thanksgiving weekend, there might be lots of family photos to share. But don’t even think about telling me you’ve got your holiday cards done. Don’t even!

Here’s my little Thanksgiving documentary. They are mostly snap shots…no time to think about photographic technique in all the chaos!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday Tracey. No, my cards are not done. I’m glad to see I’m in good company.

I was able to capture lots of candid moments this Thanksgiving. These aren’t going on the holiday cards (I hate to say it Tracey but mine are done and printed…just need the addresses and they’re good to go). But, here is a peek at my family enjoying this Thanksgiving holiday together.

I just love these shots. So sweet, and the dog’s deadpan expression is making me chuckle.

I’m cheating a bit this time – I posted this last week after our vacation but they are my best shots for sure.

Oh please… I’ve barely thought about starting the Christmas card. Well.. OK… I have THOUGHT about it. But, only to stress over the fact that I haven’t even thought about it.

We did start putting lights outside our house… and we came across this little bloom in the middle of the late fall mess.

I don’t know – I like all of those and they would make great cards, too Tracey!
We were actually on our way home from the beach – and getting our family photos taken – when I shot my BSM. I’m trying to soak some tranquility in and NOT stress that my cards are not done yet. 🙂

Unfortunately, my camera is in the repair shop with Nikon!! Hopefully it will come back soon. Thanksgiving was bad enough without it….All this holiday activity needs to be photographed!! But I did use a shot from my archive for this special BSM post.

Holiday cards are on my mind as well . I thought that I would have a shot for the holiday card after a visit to Santa’s Workshop….http://www.adirondack-mama.com/2009/11/best-shot-monday-and-visit-with-santa.html

But as you can see, the lighting was HORRID! Even when I cropped it, glowed it up and made it B/W.

My best shot is at the top of that blog post…

    You’re girls are just precious.

Those are too cute! Sometimes the outtakes are the best part. Nancy is gifting me a session with my two closest girlfriends (for fun) and my dog (for the Xmas card) this weekend, so don’t feel behind. 🙂

oh tracey, this collage is perfect. i love how it tells a story. your girls are beautiful. and your pup! i love this whole collection. the whole "posed" thing reminds me of how not to take a family photo from last year (a remote and telephoto lens make it doubly hard!)

Usually I have our holiday cards printed, addressed, stamped and in the mail by the 1st weekend in December. This year, I haven’t even THOUGHT about them yet! It stresses me out that I’m not stressed about this?!?! 😉

I’ve told you this before, but it seriously bears repeating:

Your little one is absolutely stunning.

But your older girl …. man. That face. That face. She takes my breath away EVERY. TIME.
