Taste

Taste

My daughter is 8 years old and in the fourth grade. What’s that mean? It means she’s growing up. And with that comes the trying on of new personas, new attitudes, new interests, and new styles. Style can come in many forms but with her right now, it seems most of it is in clothes. She is constantly coming up with new outfits (I think my husband might refer to them as concoctions) but I love that about her. I think it’s bold of her to don what feels good to her. “It’s my own style” she boasts.

I grabbed this shot as we were running out the door to school the other morning. Although you can’t always account for taste, you can certainly appreciate someone who has got their own.

She looks like the kind of person who could pull almost anything off. I’ve always wanted to be like that. I had a room mate in college from Puerto Rico and when she showed up at the beginning of the semester in the quiet little conservative-Republican college town she was wearing green striped and dotted capris, a oversized purple t-shirt, dreadlocks in her blond hair, and a sailor’s pack over her shoulder. She pulled it off and looked fabulous and I always envied that in her.

Aw. She’s beautiful! I can’t believe some of the outfits my supergirls picks out to wear. She comes out and says, “Mama!? Does this look cute!?” She’s 4.5…..

She’s so cool. She’s finding herself at age 8. I’m 29 and am still looking. I want to be just like her when I grow up.

    I think she looks cute!

The other morning Maggie came downstairs in pink/red heart leggings, a demin skort and an oversized white sweatshirt. She wanted to wear her hot pink cowGIRL boots. She’s 3.

Her smile is infectious–lovely–I think you can pull off any kind of “concoction” with a grin like that!
