30 Sep The Perfect Protest
This week an amazing perfect protest is going on. Have you heard? Its a rising up against perfection.
All in favor, say “aye”! And a chorus of voices all shouts out “aye”!
All of the protest photos are awesome. Fun, playful, powerful, poignant. I was so ready to join the troops by making my own sign but this week I’m not feeling very fun or playful. I’m feeling far more inward, quiet and pensive. The truth is, I’m exhausted. Physically, mentally emotionally drained. We all feel like sometimes. And that is so far from perfect. Which, I realize IS perfect for this protest. Me being real.
In the kitchen this morning, my hard boiled egg cracked in the pot and I was immediately drawn to the beauty of the imperfection of this one egg. Ah ha! I knew exactly how to raise my lens in solidarity with Brene and all the others making a statement this week.
Good-bye perfect. Hello real. And with all that comes with it, it is a gift.
I’ll be spending every free moment I get for the next few days reading Brene’s new book The Gifts of Imperfection. I know it will be just what the doctor ordered.

Peace to you!
