trusting i’ll find my rhythm

trusting i’ll find my rhythm

-Rhythm

Although I chose my one little word for 2011 before the turn of the new year, I still have yet to share it here. I have had all kinds of ideas, thoughts, stories on how I would be weaving this rhythm I so long for into my daily life and set my word into action. I’ve brainstormed, pondered, meditated, and strategised and the only thing I have come up with is that I know I need more of it in my life. And the kicker, I’m not exactly sure how to get there. Isn’t that always the way?

I absolutely know that this is the word I would like to define this year. And the good news is, I have a whole year to explore it, figure it out and incorporate it into my daily life. I have to remind myself, the pressures off.

I also have enlisted a few accent words that will help me this year to help me find my rhythm. Accent words? Yep, I’m taking liberties here and adding a few more words to help escort me along my path. Those words are systems and trust. I know that seeking out and putting systems into place in my life will help me find more of a flow. I also know that I can trust myself to know what will work and what won’t and that my intuition is far keener than I have given myself credit for.

I’ve been inspired by all of the amazing images shared at Shutter Sisters for during the month we’ve celebrated Ali Edward’s One Little Word project and so moved by the kinds of positive intentions that so many amazing women are putting into this new year. (Yes, I’m talking about you!)

So, let’s have it. What is your word (or words) that you are meditating on/dreaming of for 2011? I’m eager to hear! If you’re still looking for the perfect word for you, just check out all the words that the community at Ali Edwards blog have come up with. Wowwy! Good good stuff!

My word is CREATE. Not only do I want to create more projects for me (not always for others) I also want to create a better me – someone more positive about me, who can see the good more than the bad, someone who can trust me more. My quote for this year is "You lose who you are by focusing on who you are not." Good luck on your journey. I like your word.

Tracey, I love your word. I've been really struggling to pick one this year. Last year, my word was nourish…and I feel like I am doing better with that one, but this year, I think my word might end up being "RELAX." Because I really don't know how to do that. Thanks for the inspiration!!

My word is Creative. But the more I sit with it, Trust keeps coming up. So I'm gonna jump on your bandwagon and bootstrap two words together. xo

My word for the year is "Believe." I want to learn to believe in myself and my abilities so I won't keep giving up on ideas and projects because I am afraid I won't know how to do them or won't be able to make them work.

My word for 2011 is PLAN. It has all sorts of meanings for me already and I'm sure more will come about as the year unfolds. I like that it's open ended and grounded at the same time. I haven't figured out how to represent it properly in a photo yet, but once I do, I'll be sure to share.

I have two words. The one that came to me loud and clear was Soar. As in, this year, trus in and let the invisible currents lift me up and I will soar further than I ever imagined. The other word, kind of a *sub* word that supports the first, is Play. By playing, having fun, doing what I love? These are the things that will lift me up to those new heights!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this! I think this year will Rock!

    Great word, Tracey!
My one little word for this year is FOCUS. Last year we sold our house, moved across the whole country and were prepared to start fresh. Unfortunately there were delays on a new house so we had to wait (and still are for one more week). It was a crazy busy year and I've started so many project but haven't finished them at all. So this year I want to focus on the important things, to start and finish one thing before going for another one. Also I want to learn more about photography so FOCUS will be needed and very important.

Words are windows, aren't they? Windows into who we are and who we are becoming. Windows out to a world we will never fully understand. As a writer and mother and person, I am a big believer in the power of words and the right words. I do not yet know what my word(s) for this year will be, but I look forward to thinking about it and sifting through your comments here. It's interesting because even with the advent of technology, the constant flux in forms of communication, it still comes down to words, doesn't it?

Thrilled to have found my way to your worlds. I have a hunch they will be a staple of my 2011.

    love rhythm more than you can imagine. the word that chose me this year was pleasure. my first insight about pleasure is that i need to deeply rest, and in order to rest i need to create wide open space (which translates into the hard work of saying no). so pleasure and its first accent word, rest. {and rhythm…delicious.}

    * BLOSSOM * as in "And then the day came, when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to Blossom" — my life is generally small – and i say that lovingly… you know? but it's time. ( i also have a few other words, which i shared in our flickr discussion group )….

My word is AHEAD because I'll be starting a new era in my life soon. Retirement begins in June and I'm looking forward to it even as I know I'll miss teaching terribly. I just love teenagers; they keep me young. Without them, who will I be? That's why I have to think AHEAD.

It took a while, but it seems to be "dream"… I have not taken time to dream in a very, very long time, so this year is about vision boards and visions, retreats and retreating, resting and getting ready to make my dreams come true.

I am trusting you will find your way with the word rhythm too! And so excited to see how it plays out in imagery. I am always amazed at the synchronicity of those who go here. I almost posted a very similar (to the photo above) self portrait picture to my blog yesterday but went with something different instead. I think I've shared my word here already but for those who don't know yet, My word is FLOURISH!

My word is CALM. In the past four years: a new house, two new home businesses, marriage and three babies (yes, three)… so, this year I'm aiming for CALM. Photography, a garden, the beach…

    Calm.
I love saying it to myself.
