warmth

warmth

I have a love affair with hot beverages. And the mugs that carry them are a mild obsession too. Since I have been tethered to my dining table writing, writing, writing with little reprieve, my warm cup of something/anything has been a constant companion and confidant; steadfast and true, never leaving my side, holding my hand (or something like that) without wavering. Last night at god knows what hour I was musing on an ‘ode to hot tea’ in my head. Yes, it’s gotten that ridiculous and I have been that delirious from being in my own head for so many hours every day. It gets crazy sometimes. Thankfully, I have actually enjoyed it, if it weren’t for the nerve-wracking deadlines glaring and taunting me from my table top calendar.

Regardless, like almost anything we work hard at, it will be worth it in the end and in the meantime, I try to remain at ease in the knowing that it will all get done. It always does. Until then, I have my faithful friend to warm me from the outside in; a soothing scent, a taste to savor, warm hands, warm and grateful heart. What else can I ask for from one simple cup?

What are you savoring today? Share your heart.

Oh Tracey, I’ve been thinking the same thing! Mine is … you must try it. A hot mug beside you is the best way to write.

I didn’t have any hot beverages, but I got all warm inside just the same. Maggie meets her namesake.

My favorite drink in the morning is hot fruit tea. Usually berry, the kind that doesn’t taste like tea at all….wink.

Ah, but do you have a mug warmer? One of the best things I ever bought. 🙂 Right now I’m addicted (ok, I should say still addicted because its the only kind of tea I drink) to Stash’s Green Chai tea. Smells like Christmas! And with a bit of milk and sugar, to die for. 🙂

Goodness, we ask a lot from our one simple cups, don’t we? 😉 I usually just ask for it to get me through the next hour. Then I’ll trust the next cup to back me up. It is REALLY that time of year.

details, yes taking time to appreciate the details. I am trying to savor all aspects of my life, even when in the moment I feel frustrated or overwhelmed. The mundane and the magic – both are necessary.

We dropped our 3 year old off at school this morning, then my husband and I went out on a breakfast ‘date’. At the cafe, they had burlap bags of coffee beans…we’ll be savoring every drop of the Vanilla Almond coffee that we purchased…as well as that peaceful hour that we spent together 🙂

    Here’s a boy who’s got my heart:

    All In

I’m a tea cup girl, myself – a tea cup makes even the plainest day more fancy. A hot cup of tea is the ultimate in comfort, and one of my favorite things.

I have a hot beverage thing. And a mug thing. I adore the whole ritual of water pouring and for me bean grinding. The perfect hot cocoa is yet elusive—my mom was the best at that.

A mug of Antonio Pueo cocoa is what I savor practically daily…It always puts me in a good mood,
and somehow, things do get done!
